About

All about Zarkashaat

My journey with zarkashaat has started in 2009, when I decided to leave my day job and start making a living with my beloved hobby.
The word zarkashaat in Arabic means anything you add to an object to make it prettier such as flowers, applique, beads, lace, just anything ornamental added to projects or even gifts.
So I started to organize classes to teach crochet and also provide crochet and knitting supplies to sell in our local market which at that time there wasn't a variety in crochet and knitting supplies around here (Bahrain), I have been making some custom orders occasionally as well but taking custom orders and the pressure to make it ready in time was not my thing.
In January 2018 I  started my first design #lovetrianglesthrow, and I have been searching a lot about designing at that time and came across a commission to knitpicks.com, so I applied right away and was fortunate to have my first pattern purchased and published in their website. I remember how happy I was when I received an Email saying my design was accepted and thought designing is what i should be doing, and that's how my designing story begun.
and in 2019 I worked with hobiumyarns.com for 4 months as an ambassador for their products and designed 3 patterns for them.
Teaching people how to knit and crochet is what I live for, I feel super happy when somebody learn this two amazing crafts from me, me personally!!, it feels great i can't explain enough, so don't hesitate to share what you learned with me because it can give me positive energy in time that i need it.

Me behind Zarkashaat

My name is Zahraa, i born in 8 Jan 1983, mother to Amina (10years), and Adam (3years), I learned how to crochet chain and double crochet at school from my friends when I was about 12 years old and got obsessed about it, then my big sister showed me how to make other stitches, well at that time there wasn't something called the internet so I was borrowing books about crochet from our school library and try to learn more.

In 2009 I was pregnant with my daughter and I really wanted to make her a knitted blanket, so I tried to learn knitting from Youtube, It needed some practice at first but it was easy and I loved it as much as I love crochet. and in 9 months I had a baby and a knitted blanket.
I do love crafts in general but I don't usually work projects outside crochet and knitting.

Zarkashaat is for you and all about you

when you learn something from zarkashaat that means my goal is achieved, please share your project and what you learn so this achievement can be felt, you can also help this community to grow and reach more people by sharing videos and blog posts with your friends and to social media
